How I Got Pregnant Quick

Around August of 2018, I found out I was pregnant for the first time! We considered ourselves fortunate to have a baby, but it wasn’t long that we found out we had had a miscarriage.

We struggled for several months with the loss of our baby, but in the past couple of months, we started trying again. These products helped me conceive in both pregnancies!

HerbTheory Female Fertility

I took HerbTheory’s Female Fertility tablets religiously, when trying to conceive. These supplements are meant to encourage conception through natural, Earth ingredients. I took two tablets each morning with breakfast, and I never experienced any side effects.

I am firmly convinced that this supplement helped me get pregnant as quickly as I did. We had tried for months before I tried this supplement, to no avail, but when I started taking these tablets regularly, we fell pregnant that month! This has happened twice now. I highly recommend this dietary supplement to anyone looking to get pregnant.

HerbTheory does make a male supplement, but we did not try it. If you have, I would love to hear about your experience!

You should consult your doctor before ever taking dietary supplements. Not all dietary supplements are safe, and this should never be used in place of Prenatal Vitamins.

EASY@Home Ovulation Tests

I love EASY@Home Ovulation Tests because they are so cheap, and they come in bulk. If you are trying for several months, this pack will be good for you. I never bought ovulation tests at retail stores, like Walmart, because they end up being as expensive as pregnancy tests. Since most women trying to conceive use ovulation tests daily, it is crucial to find an affordable brand.

Tip:
It took me forever to figure out how to use Ovulation tests. If you’re a pregnancy noob like me, I’ll break it down for you! As soon as you have your period, you start taking ovulation test daily with first morning pee. When the test line is as dark and the control line, you will ovulation within 24 hours.

You can get 100 ovulation tests for $17!

Pre-Pregnancy Pack

With my first pregnancy, we did not use the One A Day Pre-Pregnancy Pack, but with this pregnancy, we did. It might not make a huge difference in conception, but I felt like the additional vitamins from “Dad” helped with a good start. I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to conceive.

These are the Prenatal vitamins I take, as well. You can get the single pack here. These are more expensive than some brands, but these vitamins also have more important ingredients like, zinc, Folic Acid, Iron, Calcium, and Vitamin D.

If you do not use this supplement, it’s okay! Just make sure your supplement, contains all the necessary vitamins for a healthy pregnancy.

Tips:

Avoid Ibuprofen, Aleve, or any of NSAIDS when trying to conceive. NSAIDS can temporarily reduce fertility and cause miscarriage in early pregnancy.

Start your pregnancy diet now! No, don’t gorge yourself with ice cream and pickles, but instead, start eating and drinking vitamin rich foods. I started drinking a yogurt smoothie every morning when we were trying. This gave additional calcium that I would need during pregnancy. You also want to cut out alcohol and excessive caffeine. Eat more veggies, too!

Get medical issues sorted out before getting pregnant. I had a herniated disc when I got pregnant. Very few doctors will treat a pregnant woman, and this can make life very hard.

Good luck and happy conceiving!

Traveling with Airbnb

We use Airbnb for every trip, big and small, but I am astounded by how many people are afraid to try Airbnb! Here are a few tips to ensure you have an awesome trip with Airbnb!

Cost Effective

Airbnb is cost effective, no matter how you look at it. I rent entire houses and apartments for less than $100 a night. All of the houses I have ever stayed at through Airbnb have been nothing short of incredible. For example, my husband and I have booked a trip to Washington DC for 4 days, and an entire apartment with a kitchen, washing machine, and dryer will cost us $300. A hotel room with far fewer amenities was going to cost us $500.

Not only will you save money on your room, but you almost always have access to a full kitchen, saving you money on breakfast and occasional lunches. If you have picky children, this kitchen is a life saver. Most of the time, Airbnb hosts give guest snacks and breakfast foods, too!

Privacy

I love the privacy of an Airbnb. No one can hear you laughing late at night, and you don’t have to worry about having the TV up to loud. You can even have friends over without disrupting any other guests. That being said, be sure you are always respectful of the host’s house. Because you aren’t staying in a hotel, it is important to be extra courteous about household appliances and furniture.

Some people have had concerns, though, and I understand. One of the most common questions I get is, “what if someone is watching me while I shower?” To that, I respond, “then I feel sorry for them!” In all seriousness, anyone could be watching you anywhere you go, even in a hotel.

Cozier Experience

Airbnb’s really make any vacation feel extravagant. A real perk is how comfy the houses and apartments are. It feels like a home away from home, and for me, that makes all the difference.

Free Parking

Most Airbnb offer free parking when you book a house or room. If you’re traveling to a busy area, like New York, free parking is a delicacy. Some hotels don’t even offer free parking!

Rent a Room

If you don’t need an entire house, you can rent a single room. Though I have never done this, several of my teacher coworkers have rented rooms on their summer road trips. You can even opt to share a room with another person to get by for almost nothing! You can rent a room for only $30 a night and sometimes even less.

Great for Big Families

This is a REAL Airbnb Listing for $80 a night. Link below.

Hotel Rooms only allow for two queen beds. If you have more than 4 people to accommodate, you will need more space. Even if you pack everyone on the floor, your trip will be miserable. Airbnbs allow 8 or more guests for around the same price as a hotel room. Here is an example: A Florida house, 35 minutes from Disney, with 5 beds, and 2 bathrooms for $80 a night.

Go Anywhere with Airbnb

Airbnb is world-wide, so you can book a room anywhere!

Experiences

Airbnb has an “Experiences” resource that is incredible! Once you book your stay, the website will suggest things to do while on your trip. We have had some really fun times using the “Experiences” suggestions. We went on a haunted ghost tour for $30, and have the time of our lives! I highly recommend taking advantage of these tools.

Reviews

Reviews are a great way to see what you’re getting yourself into. If a house has poor reviews, or no reviews at all, do not stay there. I avoid homes without reviews the most.

Highly reviewed and experienced hosts get what a “Plus” status. If a host is considered a “Plus” host, they have been verified as a trustworthy host by Airbnb. All hosts must go through extensive verification before being accepted, but I prefer to stay with “Plus” hosts. They are not more expensive that regular hosts, either.

If you are interested in traveling through Airbnb, use my link to get $40 off your first trip of $75 or more.

Subscription Free Home Security Products

This post has affiliated links. Read more about our policies, here.

Home Security Products help us feel safe in our homes, and I love having that additional security. I do not, however, love the price that comes along with security subscriptions. ADT can end up costing hundreds of dollars a month, and though the service is beyond compare, a lot of us just can’t afford that. Here are some alternatives that have proven just as effective!

Ring Video Doorbell

I’m paranoid, so I love this Ring Video Doorbell. You can see if someone is trying to ding-dong ditch you, and you can see if someone looks dangerous before you open the door. Of course, we have peepholes for this reason, but this doorbell saves videos in case of foul play.

Zmodo Wireless Camera

I love these Zmodo Wireless Cameras. They run off a wifi and do not require a subscription of any kind. We have these cameras posted all around our house. They have come in handy so many times. We get notifications every time there is movement on our property, and we switch off notifications when we are at home. These cameras are incredible for a small price.

Fortress Home Security System

The Fortress Home Security System is another item we use at our home. This home system does not require any type of subscription or commitment. It has a one time price and comes with tons of tools! Our system came with a home key pad, 3 keychain keys, 4 toggle keys, 8 door and window sensors, 4 motion sensors, an indoor alarm, and an outdoor alarm. This system will not call the police for you, but it will alert your neighbors of an emergency. Trust me, these alarms are loud!

Broke Girl Recipes

We’ve all been there. Heck, I’m there at least once a month! When the money is tight, but you still get hungry, make these tasty recipes.

Lemon Butter Pasta

For this recipe, you will need:
– thin spaghetti (1 lb for $1)
– 1 lemon ($0.25)

Sloppy Joes

For this recipe, you will need:

My husband loves this recipe because it only has 4 ingredients!

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 TBS mustard
  • 1 TBS brown sugar
  1. Brown the ground beef, drain oil, and add ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar. Mix together and simmer fo 20 minutes.

Cheesy Fries

For this recipe, you will need:
– frozen French Fries ($1)
– cheddar cheese ($4)
– pickled jalapeños (<$1)

These fries are a favorite of mine! They remind me of the State Fair, with the comfort of home.

Cheesy Fries

  • 5 lb frozen fries (baked)
  • cheddar cheese
  • jalapeños
  • bacon bits
  1. Top pre-baked fries with cheddar cheese and bake until cheese is melted. Top with Jalapeños and bacon bits.

Vegetable Fried Rice

For this recipe, you will need:
– 1 lb rice ($1.30)

Yet another favorite. Can you tell I love all of these recipes? This recipe is great because it doesn’t feel like a “cheap” recipe!

My Favorites This Week

This page has affiliated links. Read more about my policies, here.

Okay, guys! I have a lot of awesome things to tell you about this week. All of which I have testing personally and ended up loving!

Fake Bake Self Tanner

I purchased this Fake Bake Self Tanner a week ago, and I have been loving it! I use it every other day, to create a base tan. The tan stays even after I shower, but I reapply to build a darker tan. Once your desired tan is established, you only have to reapply weekly. This tan actually looks very natural. It comes in a 6 ounce spray bottle with a glove included. It costs $16.

Dip Powder Starter Kit

This Dip Powder Kit is also a new investment. I love having pretty nails, but I do not love paying the price for those nails. This kit makes strong nails that last as long as salon nails. Dip nails are easier to do than regular nail polish, and it lasts longer! This kit comes in a color set and a french tip set. I got mine for $36. I also bought these BeYou Natural Tips to extend my nail length – these were $8.

“You Are Loved” Mug

This Porcelain Collins Mug is so cute, and, if you’re a coffee drinker like me, you really can’t ever have enough mugs. This would make a great birthday or Valentine’s gift or even just a gift for yourself. You can get it for only $12.99!

Dooney & Bourke Crossbody Pebble Letter Carrier

I only have one “designer” handbag, and it is a Dooney & Bourke. Dooney & Bourke bags last for years, and all bags come with a full year of warranty. This crossbody Pebble Letter Carrier comes in multiple shades, and is genuine, pebble-grained leather. You can get this bag for $178.

Shein

Get this Maxi Dress for $25!

Shein is a website with high quality affordable clothing. I have purchased over 11 different pieces, all for under $100. I first heard of this website from a family friend. She is so well dressed all the time, so I decided to check this website out. The clothing is all from $3 – $30, depending on the item. All of the products I’ve purchased have high quality fabric, and everything is exactly as described. Shein also accepts returns! Shein runs sales periodically, making it easy to get out with tons of products for a little price.

I hope you enjoy my weekly favorites! Don’t forget to like, share, and follow my page for more content like this!

Insta-worthy Door Decor for under $50

This post has affiliated links. Read more about our affiliated link program here.

Hello, all! This week, I transformed my entry way! This was the one area that never really felt inviting, and it should because it is the first thing you see! I will share all of the products I purchased make this happen, and I only spent $48!

First, I purchase this Mainstays rug from Walmart. This week, all of my links will come from Walmart or Target. I got all items in store! It cost me $11.44.

This picture is from the Walmart website!

I have been a huge fan of the rug on rug concept, so that is exactly what I did! The second Mainstays rug is also from Walmart. I chose this one, for $19.99, and I think the rugs complement each other wonderfully!

You can pair any rugs together that you like. I specifically liked the “hello” rug, so I just picked a complementary rug that was inexpensive. I knew rugs could totally destroy my budget, so I looked at price tags before looking at patterns!

The bigger rug wasn’t even my in-store favorite, but I knew, in the end, I would only remember how much I spent.

Two of the decor items were completely free! No, they weren’t gift, but instead, they were found in the dumpster! I love dumpster diving, which is how I found the red table, and my faux fence.

The table was originally a black, with a faux granite top. It had dings and scratches, and frankly, it was ugly. I spray painted it red, years ago, and it has been a constant on my front porch ever since. If you don’t want to look for valuables in the dumpster (totally understandable!), keep your eye open as you drive down the road. There are tons of people that throw out perfectly good furniture that can easily be remodeled.

My faux fence was built from dumpster wood! I aligned pieces the way I wanted them to look, and screwed the pieces together with some wood in the back. It was that easy! You can make this with any scrap wood and wood screws, which most people have lying around. Right? Or is that just me…

Some people put up “Welcome” signs, but that was out of my budget. You can find really cute ones on Etsy! Here is an example. You can get this from $19.99 to $69.99, depending on the size that you want. Like I said, this was out of my budget, so I, sadly didn’t get to indulge in this decor… not yet, anyway!

This sign is by NativeRange.

I decorated the red table with pinecones that I found in the yard. I considered actually buying pinecones; can you believe it?! Thankfully, I was able to find these for free!

I purchased this Magnolia Farms Vase from Target, and filled it with greenery that I had around the house. In the spring and summer, I will fill it with wild flowers! This only cost me $10.

I also found a tiny, faux succulent in Bullseye’s Playground in store at Target. Sadly, I cannot put a link to this item, because it is an in-store exclusive. If you go to your nearest Target, I’m sure you could find something that would fit your needs! Here’s mine:

The succulent is inside a little mug that I made from a wine glass a while ago. You can get one like this on my Etsy page in a few days!

Lastly, I bought a glass wine keeper from the Dollar Tree. There are tons of awesome decor items at the Dollar Tree, and everything is literally a dollar or less! I got the little white rocks from the dollar tree, as well. In total, I spend $2.36!

I have noticed many Instagramers began decorating their doors and entryways months ago, but I just recently joined the trend. I didn’t think it was possible to decorate on a budget, but it was! In total, I spend $44.07!

Don’t forget to like, share, and follow this blog for more DIY tricks and tips! As always, thanks for viewing!

12 Days of Christmas: DIY Perfume

This page has affiliated links. I will receive a small portion of the profit, if you click and purchase from these links. There is no additional cost to you!

Perfume is so expensive, making this recipe a game changer. Big companies don’t want you to know how easy it really is to make your own perfume. All for less than $1!

This recipe should never stain your clothes, cause skin irritation, or wear off throughout the day.

For this, you will need:
 – 150 proof alcohol or rubbing alcohol ($0.88)
 – skin safe essential oils ($7)
 – Old perfume bottle

In a small bowl, you will start by adding 2 Tbs. of alcohol. Some experts say that Vodka works as substitute base. I haven’t tried it, but I think it would work well! I used rubbing alcohol because that’s what I had on hand. At first, there is an alcohol smell, but in a few minutes, that fades away.

At first, I considered using an oil base. This would be a bad idea because oil will stain clothes and leave your greasy all day. You will also want to avoid a water based because your essential oils will never mix with the base. Alcohol is the best base because it is inexpensive, it mixes well with oils, and most people already have it in their medicine cabinets!

After you have measure and poured your base, add several drops of your essential oils. The great thing about this recipe is it is completely customizable. If you like a strong perfume, you can add more essential oils and vice versa. You can even sell your perfume to make a little money on the side!

After your essential oils and alcohol has been combined, pour your new perfume into an old perfume bottle and enjoy!

DIY Perfume

Easy, affordable perfume that you can make and customize at home.

  • 2 TBS Rubbing Alcohol (or other alcohol base)
  • 5-20 drops Skin Safe Essential Oils (I used Rose Essential oils!)
  1. Mix your rubbing alcohol and essential oils together, and pour into an old perfume bottle. Shake before use. Wasn’t that easy?

I get compliments on this perfume all the time, and I will be making some for a church fundraiser, soon. Seriously, this stuff is versatile! Comment below how you plan to use this recipe!
