Such perseverance! And you’ve really done a great job in cleaning the various layers off. Would some sort of a tile work for your countertop?

    1. Maybe! We did tile in the kitchen and we are relatively pleased with it. We might consider that soon!

  2. Sounds like some of my project attempts. But it ALWAYS looks so good in my mind, when I imagine what the finished results will look like. 😀

  3. It turned out beautiful! Great job!

  4. That’s an interesting twist. 😀 But it actually sounds good!

    1. It is surprisingly good! I’ve deducted that she added the potatoes because they were left over from another meal, and she didn’t want them to go to waste. It was, after all, around the time of The Great Depression!

  5. Great job! It looks beautiful!

  6. I’m not a coffee connoisseur but this sounds so yummy! 🙂

    1. It tastes more like a dessert than coffee, to me!

  7. Thanks for the fur-baby recipe!

  8. Awe, Girl! I had to leave after reading your sweet words, then come back to comment. You had me all teared up! Thank you s omuch! (Hugs) <3

I fancy a model that will fix dinner (never mind the diapers).

    1. Me, too! Wouldn’t that be nice? LOL

  10. Do you really boil your eggs for 20 minutes? Hard boiled eggs usually only take ten minutes, any longer, and the eggs can turn out tough and or rubbery, I’ve found. Just pondering, not trying to be a critic! Your blog looks really nice! Thank you for inviting me to follow you, I hope you have a really nice day!

    1. I do between 13-20 minutes! Every time I’ve done less than that, they have been undercooked. I’ve never had rubbery eggs, though! Maybe, I’m doing something weird! LOL

      1. If it works for you then it’s what you stick with. Maybe my water is weird, it has a lot of minerals so the eggs cook fast. Your pets are really cute!

Hello! I enjoy your blog. In your banana bread recipe it says one large…?. Should that be one large egg? Thanks for your reply, I would like to make this soon!

    1. Thank you for catching that!! It is 1 large egg.

  12. I am in love with these portable chargers, as well! Most handy when the power goes out!

    1. Me, too! We have tons of them! They are life savers. We use them when we go camping, too.

    2. Heather, you are our winner! Email us at so we can mail you your charger!

  13. Nice job! It’s beautiful and you were so creative with re purposing ideas!

    1. Tell me how it goes!

They look great. I would be tempted to add a spot of pineapple to the Hawaiian rolls for the cheese sliders, for an extra Hawaiian touch.

    1. That sound delicious! I will have to try that.

It doesn’t help to know that one is one of many, does it?
This really brings home the feelings that go with this loss, so casually dismissed by those who have never really thought about it.

  19. Love your entryway! I have never thought of layer rugs. It looks amazing!

  20. Robin says:

Great post! Saving on Pinterest. 🙂

  21. colonialist says:

What, no new daddy calming sets?

  22. Never even heard of this before. I’m glad I fell into your post, def have to try this now 🙂

  23. Thank you! Good to know.

I disagree with the bassinet.., it’s my personal choice. With my first 2, I had to be able to physically touch my babies or I would be up every 5 minutes to check them. A co-sleeper or bassinet was perfect to put beside the bed.

  25. I got a body pillow and at-home doppler, too! I would have been so lost without them! Great list!! 😊
